The fastest I have hiked it in is two hours, although, it usually takes me about two and half to three hours. For me to reach the tables, which is considered the easier part of the hike because it consists of mostly switchbacks, it takes me about 40-45 minutes. Then the hike starts to get harder because now is the actual hike along the ridge. It takes me another 10-15 minutes to reach a bench that allows me to see Diamond Head and the opposite side of the valley wall. Up until now, the hike is pretty much shaded by trees, unlike the rest of the hike. It takes me another 20-30 minutes to reach the end of the trail. The awesome view from here is well worth the challenging hike. I can see from the Kane`ohe Marine Base to Makapu`u Point (which includes Waimanalo), Hanauma Bay, Koko Crater, and Diamond Head. The view is almost 360 degrees. Click on PHOTO GALLERY to see still shots from the hike and/or click on VIDEO to see actual footage. The trail down is the same as going up.
